M. C. Selfridge studied art and received her B.F.A. degree from the School of Art, Illionis Wesleyan University which is specifically known for its powerful programs in the arts, and has also studied extensively at the American Academy of Art in Chicago. She has supported herself as a fine art oil painter for 20 years, working mainly in the states, but also abroad.
Although Selfridge creates a wide variety of images and enjoys experimenting with different styles, she is primarily known for her classic night scenes and has often been compared with Edward Hopper. She is motivated by and particularly successful at capturing mood and atmosphere, pulling viewers into her intimate and mysterious settings and leaving them curious to know more.

Selfridge holds numerous awards for excellence and her work has been published on book covers, magazines, posters, and cds as well as greeting cards, and has also been showcased in Communication Arts, The Directory of Illustration, Design 2K, and Creativity 28. Her work is held in many private and corporate collections throughout the United States, Canada, England, and France.

Selfridge is represented by Constance Petter Gallery in Douglas, Michigan and Anne Loucks Gallery in Glencoe, IL.
